There are experiences you can describe, but that are only truly understood when you live them. Squirting is one of those experiences. A beautiful phenomenon that is all about letting go, surrender and a deep trust in your own body. And as so often in the world of female sexuality, squirting is still too often misunderstood, romanticised or commercialised. Time for the truth!

Squirting - the wonder of female surrender

What exactly is squirting?

Squirting - sometimes also called 'female ejaculation' - is the release of fluid from the urethra during intense sexual arousal or orgasm. It is not ordinary lubrication, not just a bit of extra wetness; it is a release of fluid that is often accompanied by a feeling of deep discharge. Squirting can feel like an explosion of pleasure. Like a letting go that goes beyond the conscious. Sometimes accompanied by trembling, crying, laughing. Loud or in complete silence. Exactly the way it comes and suits you.

For some it happens suddenly. For others it arises after a long, careful build-up of relaxation and stimulation. It is not a trick or a skill that you have to learn "quickly". It is an interplay of physical sensations, mental surrender and emotional space. For one woman it seems to happen by itself, and another may never have experienced it. It is also not a must.

So is it just urine?

A frequently asked question, and also a source of a lot of confusion. Scientific research has shown that the fluid released during squirting does indeed come from the bladder and leaves the body through the urethra. But it is not simply urine. The composition differs: it often contains traces of urine, but also other substances such as PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen), which points to an actual ejaculation from glands around the urethra - the female paraurethral glands, which are related to the prostate in men.

So yes, technically speaking the bladder plays a role. But reducing squirting to "peeing" does no justice to the complexity and beauty of the experience. Squirting is an energetic release, a letting go on a physical and emotional level. It requires relaxation and trust.

Can every woman squirt?

The short answer: probably yes, but not everyone will experience it - and that is perfectly fine too. Squirting is not a mandatory part of being a woman. It is no proof of orgasm and no measure of sexuality. Some women discover it spontaneously, other women get to know it gradually, and others simply have no need for it (or perhaps don't even know that it could be a possibility). All experiences are equally valuable. There is no right or wrong.

What do you need in order to squirt?

What you need is less technique than you might think. It doesn't start with a magical touch of the clitoris; the starting signal is located in your vagina. Try to relax your pelvic area properly. Empty your mind, because all those thoughts can only get in the way.

Physically, squirting often revolves around stimulation of the G-spot, which is located a few centimetres inside the vagina, towards the belly side. That spot is not a switch you just 'flick on'. It calls for patience, loving pressure, rhythm, gentleness and determination. But it is also important that you don't feel the pressure of having to do it. You don't have to achieve or perform anything; let go of that feeling... and receive whatever presents itself.

Why can a woman squirt?

The question "why" touches on something deeper than mere biology. After all, it is not necessary for reproduction. Of course the female body has glands, can store fluid and can respond to stimulation. But on another level - a level of feeling - squirting is an expression of female energy in its freest form. Squirting is an expression of surrender. The release of stored-up tension. An acknowledgement of pleasure that doesn't neatly colour inside the lines. An explosion of "I feel", without restraint.

Many women experience not only physical release after squirting, but also emotional openness. Sometimes tears come, or laughter instead. And sometimes there is a moment of deep silence, as if the body needs a moment to recover from the wonder it has allowed itself.

Whether you will ever squirt or not says nothing about your womanhood. Nothing about your sexuality. And nothing about your ability to enjoy. What really matters is whether you give yourself permission to feel, to let go and simply to be. Perhaps that is the most beautiful secret: that in letting go lies the greatest receiving.

And in that,
lies the true magic of being a woman.
