Different types of nipple clamps – which one will you choose?
“Different types of nipple clamps – which one will you choose?” was written for BDSMforyou.nl by Mistress Moriah.
The term “nipple clamps” pretty much says it all – they’re perfectly suited for the practice of nipple torture. Nipple clamps apply intense pressure to the nipples, creating erotic pain. They come in various designs, with different levels of pressure, and with or without weights. A great (inexpensive) alternative to clamps are, of course, clothespins – whether wooden or plastic. Keep in mind that plastic clothespins squeeze harder than wooden ones.

But whether you use nipple clamps or pinches, both are perfectly suited for teasing the nipples. There are also nipple clamps that are connected by a chain to a clamp for the clitoris or penis/testicles. Fun to put on…
How do you use nipple clamps?
A nipple clamp is suitable for both men and women. Nipples are quite sensitive, so it’s important that the clamps are placed correctly. This means they must be positioned securely over the entire nipple. The clamping action restricts blood flow (slightly), creating the painful (or pleasurable) sensation. Never leave them on for too long (maximum 20 minutes); after all, you don’t want to damage your nipples. Always clean the clamps afterward so you can start fresh and clean next time.
The most painful moment is when you remove the clamps, allowing blood to flow again. To speed up this process, you can massage your nipples a bit. The nipples will remain sensitive for quite some time. You’ll notice that the more often you use nipple clamps, the better you’ll be able to handle the pain. The first time is extra sensitive, but you’ll get used to this sensation. Gradually build up both the clamping force and the duration. You don’t have to start with 20 minutes right away. Five minutes is fine too.
Different types of nipple clamps
There are all kinds of nipple clamps available. Basically, you can categorize them into: vibrating nipple clamps, adjustable clamps, magnetic clamps, pinches, and clamps on a chain.
Alligator clamps
Great clamps for beginners! They’re easy to use and you can adjust them to provide exactly the right amount of pressure for your sub. The clamps are connected by a chain, so you can easily tease them by pulling on it.
Affix Triple Chain Nipple Clamps
Beautiful, elegant nipple clamps connected to each other by three chains. To increase the pain (or pleasure), you can hang extra weights from these clamps.
Tweezers Nipple Clamps
Narrow clamps connected to a chain. Personally, I don’t find tweezers clamps very comfortable to use. That’s undoubtedly just me, but if you have those tiny little nipples (or those small, tight nipples), I can’t easily get them through. But maybe you’ll think they’re absolutely fantastic!
Butterfly nipple clamps
These butterfly nipple clamps are also known as American nipple clamps (Amerikantjes) or Japanese nipple clamps. They’re intense clamps and often have a non-slip tip. You can’t adjust their clamping force, and they’re connected to a chain. Personally, I find these clamps very comfortable.
Magnetic balls
Magnetic balls are mean, really mean. Because magnets want only one thing, and that’s to be together! Even if it means going through your nipple. So they keep increasing the pressure, and you can’t adjust that. You can also use them on other areas besides nipples, by the way. Intense, but I love it.
Scissor clamps aren’t usually found at your average sex toy shop. However, you should be able to find them at a well-stocked BDSM shop. And if not, you can always browse a medical website.
Original alternative: The mouse trap
Mouse traps are another example of how a BDSM experience doesn’t have to be expensive, as long as you get creative with what you already have. Mouse traps, for example, work perfectly well as alternative clamps. Nipples, labia, testicles—they all fit inside. Perhaps needless to say, but you’re not supposed to snap the traps shut on the nipple or testicles; instead, you should simply clamp them gently by hand. After all, no mouse needs to die. Nor any nipple or testicle, for that matter.
Useful tips
The narrower the jaws of the clamps, the more intense the clamps are. The wider the jaws, the more the pressure is distributed over a larger surface area.
With a plastic coating around metal nipple clamps, you’re less likely to damage the skin.
