Water sports or sex in the lake – is it harmful?

“Watersports or golden showers – is it harmful?” was written for BDSMforyou.nl by Mistress Moriah.

Watersports or golden showers are other terms for wet sex. It is an umbrella term for everything related to sex and urine. Golden showers, champagne sex, urolangnie – it all falls under this category. Golden showers are actively practiced by a large group within the BDSM community, often by urinating on the sub or using them as a toilet. An expression of pure power and the feeling of ultimate humiliation.

The Taboo Around Pissing or Golden Showers

Especially among outsiders, there is often a taboo surrounding this form of sexual expression. Just think back to when that “sex tape” of a female celebrity was posted online a while back, in which she was urinated on, and the uproar that ensued. Of course, no one wants intimate moments to be shared, but the fact that this involved golden showers added another layer of significance.

Yet this is also a form of sharing intimacy with one another. And if neither of you has a problem with it, there’s nothing wrong with it. By the way, you’re certainly not alone if you enjoy this. Many more people enjoy this play, but it’s not something people talk about openly.

Not just like that

In water play, it’s mainly about the urine of the dominant. The experience revolves around humiliation and submission. It’s a form of edgeplay. Pissing isn’t something you just go and do to someone else “just like that.” By the way, did you know that if you urinate on someone without their consent, this falls under “sexual assault”? Legally speaking, it’s not the same as rape, but it is considered sexual assault. So before you do it, you really need to be absolutely sure that the other person is open to receiving this from you.

The sub doesn’t always experience urine as humiliating. Within Femdom, “her champagne” can also be seen as the ultimate sign of appreciation.

Beyond Shame

For both parties, it’s important to be absolutely certain you want to take this step before you begin. You do have to overcome a certain amount of shame. This applies just as much to the dominant, because you certainly don’t just pee on someone else without reason. You’re sharing an intimate moment with each other – something you normally do behind closed doors in the bathroom.

Forms of Pee Play

There are various ways to experience golden showers. The most common are:

– urinating over the entire body
– drinking urine, straight from the source
– drinking urine from a glass or cup
– collecting the urine beforehand and then pouring it over the body
– collecting it in a small bottle and giving it as “perfume”
– as a reward or, conversely, as a punishment
– inserting a catheter

The risks of golden showers

Golden showers are not entirely without risks. It doesn’t happen often, but you can be exposed to hepatitis B or other STIs through urine in the mouth or on the face (eyes). Additionally, the bacteria in urine can cause an infection in any small cuts or sores. Urine is certainly not sterile.

Fortunately, it’s rare to become infected this way, but it’s best not to take unnecessary risks. Just as with other sexual contact, handle this carefully and don’t let just anyone urinate on you.

If you’re certain there are no small cuts and you completely avoid the face, there are hardly any risks associated with golden showers.

Drinking large amounts of urine can also cause other health issues. It contains harmful chemicals (uric acid). It’s not for nothing that it’s a waste product of our body. So a few sips, okay, but preferably not a whole water bottle.
