Sweet surprises, for a change

“Gentle surprises, for a change” was written for BDSMforyou.nl by Mistress Moriah.

Some people think that BDSM is all about pain, pain, pain. Or something along those lines. That’s nonsense, of course. The most intense moments are sometimes with my fingernails, as I gently stroke the skin. For many subs, it’s an impossible task to remain still then (which in turn is a reason to punish them). Believe me, most of them hold up better when I strike them with one of my whips. It is precisely those gentle surprises in between, the unexpected, that give depth to a play. Just striking with full force (or whatever you do), there is no depth in that. It is often about the unexpected.

What can you use?

For gentle surprises, you can of course use your fingers to caress or gently tickle with your long hair, but you can also use other materials. Think of an ostrich feather, a tickler, a horsehair whip, or even a soft brush, a hairbrush, or a feather duster. Especially if the skin has already been worked on and is red, these kinds of “gentle caresses” can still pack a punch.

An intense BDSM play

As I wrote in the first paragraph, an intense BDSM play varies from hard to soft, from high to low, from strict to gentle, and from familiar to unfamiliar. It is precisely this variety that can make a play intense. Not knowing what to expect and therefore not being able to brace yourself for anything. It is the pure experience of surrender, which can actually clear your mind. Not knowing what to expect. That is the ultimate game of Power and Surrender.

You can, of course, apply this variation to various play techniques. The most obvious is, of course, during whipping, but try it during a spanking or foil bondage as well. You can even apply it with needle play, for example by gently running a needle along the skin.

Rhythm of the Strokes

Keep in mind that not everyone appreciates this variation. Sometimes a sub needs the rhythm of the administered strokes to enter a certain state in order to regulate the pain. And they need precisely that rhythm of the strokes to descend into themselves. Everyone is different and handles this differently. The more often you play together, the better you get to know each other and the better you understand how to descend together into the deeper layers. So, above all, keep talking to each other.
