Play piercing, the collective term for all kinds of small piercings
“Play piercing, the collective term for all kinds of small piercings,” was written for BDSMforyou.nl by Mistress Moriah.
Play piercing is a collective term for all play elements involving needles or other sharp objects. In any case, it involves piercing the skin. A nipple piercing, earring, Ampallang, or Apadrayva can all be forms of play piercing. So this isn’t always about a temporary SM game; it can also involve a permanent piercing. For temporary SM play, you can use needles used in acupuncture, or you can use (medical) needles used during needle play.

Use your imagination
Use your creativity. For example, recently, for someone’s birthday, I attached candles to a needle and stuck them one by one into his buttocks (and lit them). As a sort of alternative birthday cake. And I once gave my slave wings by inserting beautiful black feathers into the tubes. The most well-known is probably a corset piercing. Two or more rows of rings are pierced into the skin and laced together with ribbon, thread, or something else decorative, to give the appearance of a corset.
Always use sterile (and therefore new) (injection) needles (without a syringe) and not regular sewing needles. Injection needles can be purchased for a few euros from a medical supply store in boxes of 100. Also make sure you have sufficient disinfectants such as alcohol. It is advisable to use gloves that you disinfect beforehand, and of course, you should also disinfect the skin beforehand.
What’s the experience like?
Every sub gets something different out of play piercing. One person enjoys the calmness with which the needles are inserted, another gets turned on by the idea of getting a forced Prince Albert, and yet another enjoys the sensation of needles piercing their skin. It can be a victory over oneself, or a creative desire, self-expression, pleasure, or amusement. It gives an endorphin rush that can last quite a while. Some people can even get an orgasm from it! It’s also pretty intense, because someone is literally getting under your skin.
Once the needles are in? Then play with them a little. Gently run your hand over them, press them a bit, or pull them out slowly. All these actions create a unique sensation.
Options
Needles and real piercings are, of course, the most obvious play piercings, but you can also use stainless steel fishing hooks (without barbs!) or surgical thread.
Caution regarding play piercing
Note: Research is still ongoing to determine whether there is a link between needles and internal swelling and/or damage. Always practice the highest standards of hygiene. Be aware that needle play is not without risk for the “piercer” either, especially if you accidentally prick yourself with one of the needles. And that risk is always present.
