Puppy play is all about the dog and its owner. It is a form of BDSM role-play that involves all sorts of props. Think of butt plugs with wagging tails, collars, food bowls, water bowls, leashes, and, of course, dog masks.

What is the experience like?

Puppy play isn’t just about the power dynamic, because puppies can also play just fine with each other. So it’s best to compare it (if you want to) to age play, where “teens” can also play just fine with each other without anyone taking on the role of caregiver.

Puppies come in all kinds of varieties: one is mischievous, another is defiant, and the next is shy. The owner gives commands, but it’s up to the puppy whether – and how – he carries them out. Basically, everything you’d do with a real puppy. So you can use short commands, have them move on all fours, and play dog games with them.

For many, playing the role of a puppy isn’t humiliating at all, but rather relaxing and enjoyable. It’s nice to let go of the reins for a bit. Since there are all kinds of puppies, what works for one might not work at all for another. That’s a matter of discovery – for both the puppy and the owner.
