In BDSM, a dungeon is the space where sessions, play, and experiences take place. This can be a specially designed room in a private home, a professional play area at a Mistress’s place, or a larger location where several people come together to experience BDSM. Historically, the name refers to dungeons or underground spaces, but in practice, a dungeon can look very different: from an intimate, atmospheric room to a fully equipped play area with professional equipment.

What makes a dungeon special is its interior design. The space is often deliberately designed to facilitate BDSM play and create a certain atmosphere. Think of sturdy attachment points in walls or ceilings, furniture for bondage or positioning, good lighting, and materials that are easy to keep clean. In many dungeons, you will also see recognizable elements such as a St. Andrew’s cross, bondage benches, chains, ropes, or other tools that are suitable for various forms of BDSM.
